I don’t know about you guys, but I’m always down to try a new brunch spot when I’m traveling. Over the weekend I went to D.C. to check out the Westend Bistro’s brunch menu and definitely indulged a bit. Well more than a bit, but it was totally worth it.

The Westend Bistro is a sleek yet casual bistro and bar located in The Ritz Carlton, Washington, D.C.’s Westend location. I love this part of D.C. and in fact, this is my second time visiting The Ritz Carlton, Washington, D.C. within the past month. I live in Williamsburg, Virginia but I’m a city girl at heart and I love visiting nearby cities every chance I get.

Backstory: I was in D.C. the first weekend of November to celebrate my 30th birthday and wanted to grab breakfast in the west end area, nearby where I was staying, before I left the city. The atmosphere from the window is what initially drew me into the Westend Bistro. Even though breakfast had ended an hour before I arrived, I was still able to order from the breakfast menu. How amazing, right? (read more about my birthday experience here) My meal was pretty great and not to mention the level of service was excellent. So naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to come back for breakfast during actual breakfast hours and the Westend Bistro did not disappoint.

This time I went with a friend and we ordered the steak & eggs and the kale grilled cheese. The steak and eggs came with one of my favorite breakfast sides, potatoes! And the kale grilled cheese was cooked to perfection with a fried egg on top. Chef Alvin Dela Cruz surprised us with two special treats: the blueberry ricotta pancakes and the infamous huevos rancheros.

One of the things I love about the Westend Bistro is that the ingredients from the menu are locally sourced from nearby farms. It’s truly a farm to table restaurant. (which made me feel better about indulging haha!)

I know I talk a lot about budget travel on my blog and while I love finding a great deal what I also appreciate is VALUE. Value is everything!

The people at The Ritz Carlton, Washington, D.C. and the Westend Bistro are what truly made this experience unforgettable. If you’re ever in the area, you definitely have to check it out.
