“Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you, spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life.” – Amy Poehler
If you know me well, you know I’m all about finding your tribe. Whether it’s online or offline, having a tribe or community in your life is super important. I’m always reminded of this when I think about the amazing people I’ve met in my life. The interactions I’ve had with the people in my tribe have had such an impact on my life and I’m forever grateful for you guys.
In today’s world, it’s never been easier to create or join a tribe. It’s kind of crazy to think that you can create meaningful relationships with people via social media. I’ve met so many great people online that I communicate with on a daily basis. (hey guys!! 👋)
I’ve also had great opportunities come my way through various tribes I’m connected with. I’ve been able to find freelance work through online communities and I’ll be featured on a podcast soon. (I’ll share the deets and the link when everything is uploaded.) And just the other day, I went to DC for a blogger networking event and met a ton of amazing bloggers.
There’s a lot of scientific research out there that supports the importance of being a part of a tribe. What I found to be true is that it’s not just about having one tribe, it’s about having many tribes and connecting with people all over. It’s in our DNA to want to be a part of something. But not just anything, being a part of something that supports your growth…part of something moving forward in a big way that will help you further your life. If you’re having trouble finding a tribe.
Here are 4 ways to find your tribe:
1. Determine why you want to be a part of a tribe
Get clear on why you want to be a part of this tribe. There are a lot of communities out there that support different things. Make sure you find a group that supports who you want to be and what you’re trying to accomplish in life. Also, while it’s important to be clear on why you want to join a tribe, don’t just think about what you can get out of the experience also think about the value will you bring to the group.
2. Search for groups online that support your mission and overall goals
I’ve mentioned this before about joining Facebook groups and how you can connect with people all over the world. I’ve joined several travel-related Facebook groups as well as online business groups.
3. Look for events in your area on Eventbrite
Eventbrite is my jam! They always have great events on their site. What I also love about this site is that you can search for events by category as well as by location.
4. Stay connected
This one is huge and can be difficult because sometimes life gets in the way. But it’s super important to stay connected to your tribe and continue to help each other flourish.
Find tribes that support your mission and who you want to be. Join communities of people that will support your overall growth. When you do this, you’ll realize there are a lot of similarities between us and yet so much you can learn from other people. I’m always so humbled and inspired by this when I travel and connect with people all over the world. Are you guys a part of any tribes?
